Point to Point Environmental offers groundwater studies and hydrogeologic studies. Geotechnical investigations may require the installation of piezometers and groundwater monitoring wells to be utilized to collect a variety of data. Properly constructed piezometers and groundwater monitoring wells are designed and installed to meet site conditions and the date to be collected.

Groundwater studies and hydrogeologic studies conducted as part of a geotechnical investigation focus on the specific parameters as specified by the engineering and construction requirements and the associated lithology and hydrogeology of a property. The geotechnical investigations often include the installation of soil test holes, soil borings, piezometers and groundwater monitoring wells. Soil test holes and soil borings are installed utilizing a variety of drilling technologies, selected based on site specific requirements. Point to Point Environmental Staff collect field parameters and make observation during the drilling activities so that a properly constructed piezometer or groundwater monitoring well can be installed.

The locations of groundwater monitoring wells and piezometers are added to the site plan and vertically surveyed so that the depth to groundwater/groundwater elevation can be used to calculate the direction of groundwater flow and hydraulic gradient at a site. Piezometers or groundwater monitoring wells can also be used to calculate groundwater recovery rates by performing draw-down or pumping tests using down-hole pumps. Piezometers or groundwater monitoring wells may be installed and left in place to provide long-term groundwater elevation data, to conduct seasonal pumping tests and slug tests for calculations of hydraulic conductivity, or to assist with dewatering activities to facilitate construction and excavation. Downhole pressure transducers and dataloggers can be installed to collect long term groundwater elevation data. Point to Point Environmental also has experience with the latest in subsurface investigation technology including utilizing hydraulic profiling tool (HPT) to characterize electric conductivity and lithologic permeability.
