Point to Point Environmental offers subsurface investigation services for our clients’ needs and to gather the data required for your project. Attention to detail and experience in every subsoil exploration plan is of the utmost importance. In determining whether or not the subsurface lithology will support the requirements of any project, a comprehensive subsurface exploration plan is critical. Proper execution of the geotechnical design can be dependent upon the quality of the subsurface investigation. The costs associated with overlooked subsurface conditions encountered during construction activities can be sizable. At Point to Point Environmental, we define our success by constant training and an unmatched emphasis on attention to detail.

Point to Point Environmental builds a collaborative relationship among owners, engineers, construction managers and subcontractors ensure all subsurface investigation projects result in the required data set and analysis. Point to Point Environmental offers drilling and test boring installation services to provide for our clients’ subsurface exploration needs and to gather the required data. Utilizing a variety of drilling technologies selected based on site specific requirements, Point to Point to Environmental can install soil test holes, soil borings, conduct rock investigations, rock coring, and install piezometers and groundwater monitoring wells. During the drilling activities, standard penetration testing (SPT), cone penetration (CPT), test soundings, and down-hole geophysical surveys can be used to evaluate subsurface characteristics. Point to Point Environmental also has experience with the latest in subsurface investigation technology including membrane interface probe (MIP), hydraulic profiling tool (HPT), down hole electrical conductivity and light induced fluoresce (LIF).

Point to Point Environmental staff collect detailed field parameters, and observations are recorded during the boring and/or drilling activities to be included within thorough soil boring logs and rock coring logs that are prepared for inclusion within report documentation. Soil samples and rock cores are collected at the specified locations and depths. Samples can be analyzed for the required geotechnical parameters at a certified laboratory. The locations of soil test holes, borings and groundwater monitoring wells groundwater monitoring wells are added to the site plan.

If groundwater and hydrogeological subsurface investigations are required, the piezometers and groundwater monitoring wells can be vertically surveyed so that the depth to groundwater/groundwater elevation can be used to calculate the direction of groundwater flow and hydraulic gradient at a site. Piezometers or groundwater monitoring wells can also be used to calculate groundwater recovery rates, provide for long-term groundwater elevation data, or to be used for dewatering during excavation.

Point to Point environmental also partners with local subcontractors to provide seismic refraction and reflection to investigate buried structures, underground utilities and conduct bedrock mapping. Additionally, soil resistivity testing can be completed to be used in cathodic protection system design and to determine electrical grounding requirements. Point to Point Environmental partners with local subcontractors to ensure the most knowledgeable and cost effective strategies are employed on your project.
